Going into Tuesday nights basketball game, the Jackson County schools had five teams in need of wins. All five teams won, and now four have secured a playoff spot, and the fifth has locked up at least a tie for the final playoff spot.

The Edna Cowgirls showed their determination, as they were down by nine early and four at halftime before storming back and winning 51-42. The win clinched third place for the Cowgirls.

The Ganado Maidens defeated Bloomington 40-18 to lock up the third place spot in their district.

The girls Bi-District playoff games will be played early next week. More details to come.

With a 58-46 win over Rice, the Industrial Cobras boys locked up a playoff spot. With a win Friday over Tidehaven, or a Hallettville loss to Palacios, the Cobras will lock up the third place position.

With a 55 - 48 win over Yoakum, the Edna Cowboys have assured themselves of either first or second in district. The district title game will be played on Friday, when Edna hosts Columbus. Edna will then face Hallettsville to finish off their regular season on Tuesday.

The Ganado Indians defeated Bloomington 42-37 to put themselves in, at worst, a tie for the final playoff spot. If the Indians win their final two and Shiner loses their final two, they will end up in a tie for the final two playoff spots.

Ganado also will lock up fourth place by winning one of their final two games or if Louise loses either of their final two games. The Indians close out their district season against Shiner (7-3) and Flatonia (9-1).

The Cobra girls finished their season last night with a 46-45 loss to Rice.
