2A softball playoff information

    Below are all 16 teams still playing softball in 2A. I was able to talk to many of the coaches and was able to add a bit of information about their team.

Region 4

Bremond (29-5, W27) defeated Centerville 13-1 and 10-0

Last year the Maidens knocked Bremond out in the Regional Semi-Finals. This year was the first district title for Bremind since 2013. The Regional Finals in 2003 is the furthest Bremond has ever been in softball.

Weimar (26-6, S29) defeated Shiner.

Regional Semi-Finals is Weimar and Bremond.

Thorndale (25-8, S27) defeated Latexo.

Ganado (25-4, W29) defeated Flatonia. Last year’s Region Finals run is the furthest the Maidens have ever been.

Regional Semi-Finals is Ganado and Thorndale. This series will be played in La Grange. Game one is Wednesday at 6:30. Game two is Thursday at 6:30. Game three, if needed, will be Saturday at 2 p.m.

Region 2

Archer City (23-6, W10) defeated Muenster. Archer City won one state title, and lost one state title game. 

Crawford (25-2, W13) defeated Italy 20-2 and 4-0. Crawford lost the state championship game last year.

Regional Semi-Finals is Archer City and Crawford.

Axtel (23-9, S13) defeated Trenton 7-1 and 13-8

Hico (20-4, W12) and Tolar (21-5, W11). Tolar won game one. Game 2 is Monday.

Hico has made the playoffs four times in their school history. They had never won a playoff game until this season. The furthest Tolar has ever advanced is this year, the Regional Quarterfinals. 

Winner plays Axtel next.

Region 1

Floydada (32-3-1, W3) defeated Clarendon. Floydada made it to the Regional Semi-Finals in 2019 and again now again this season. It is the furthest they have ever advanced. Floydada’s ace pitcher is 30-2 this season with 243 strikeouts.

Stamford (23-4, W7) defeated Haskell 10-6 and 16-6 to advance. Last year Stamford won the state title. It was their first state appearance and their first state title for any girls sport.

Regional Semi-Finals is Floydada and Stamford.

Colorado City (21-5, S4) defeated Ralls. 

Hamlin (21-6, S7) defeated Albany.

Regional Semi-Finals is Colorado City and Hamlin.

Region 3

Kerens (27-6-1, W20) defeated Hawkins

Groveton (29-9, S21) defeated West Sabine. The Regional Semi-Finals is the furthest Groveton has ever been, and they head back there again.

Regional Semi-Finals is Kerens and Groveton.

Como-Pickton (31-3, W17) defeated Union Grove 5-1. In 1999 Como-Pickton made it to the state semi-finals. That’s as far as they’ve ever advanced.

Lovelady (30-4-2, W21) defeated Beckville.

Regional Semi-Finals is Como-Pickton and Lovelady.
