William "Bill" Henry Johnson

William “Bill” Henry Johnson, of Edna went to be with the Lord, on Monday, April 29, 2019, at the age of 82. He was born in Waco, Texas, on Sept. 12, 1936, to the late Robert W. Johnson and Beulah Hicks Rivers.     Bill started working as an electrician’s helper when he was nine years old and developed a love for this trade. He married Mary Meredith Hoffman on May 26, 1956. Bill then went back to school to receive his Journeymen Electrician License in July of 1961. He was member of IBEW Local #716 International Brotherhood of Electrical workers in good standing for 60 plus years. Bill was confirmed as a Lutheran on April 18, 2001, and then he became a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Edna.         He loved hunting, fishing, but most of all he loved gardening. Bill was also, a very loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and dear friend will be truly missed.         Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Meredith Hoffman Johnson; two daughters, Kathy and David Morgan, Marie Walters; one son, Chris and Debbie Johnson; five grandchildren, Jonathan Morgan, Amanda Ruth Morgan, Misty Johnson, Tiffany Johnson, and Jeffery Walters; three precious great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jayden, and Jase; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.     In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his stepfather, John Rivers; two sisters, Jewel Ogden, Azlee and Jim W. Davis, Sr.; one brother, Robert L. Wooten.       Visitation was held on Thursday, May 2, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services began with a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m.; the service begin at 11 a.m., on Friday, May 3, in the St Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Edna, with the interment following in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna, Pastor Paul M. Kaiser officiated.       In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the St Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 108 East Gayle St., Edna, Texas 77957.     Pallbearers were David Sappington, Craig Wiegand, Allen Wiegand, Wes Wiegand, Ben Hoffman, Darrell Hoffman, and Blake Hoffman. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Moore, Lewis “Bubba” Hoffman, and Mathew Hoffman.     Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna, 361-782-2221.
