Velma Eileen Chalupsky

    Velma Eileen Chalupsky of The Woodlands passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020. She was born November 5, 1924 in Comstock, Neb. to Harold Vern Florida and Gladys Jackson.

    Velma was a retired teacher. She taught in several school systems from country schools to elementary schools in Nebraska, Wyoming, and New Mexico. She was employed in Omaha, Nebraska during World War II doing data processing. After moving to Edna, she was employed at the Edna Herald as the society editor.

    She is survived by her daughters, Ann Wilcox and husband Dave of Magnolia, Texas, and Sue Dillow and husband John of Gresham, Oregon; and son, Tom Chalupsky and wife Mary of Grand Island, Nebraska. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

    She is proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Chalupsky; and sisters, Pauline Waldmann, and Shirley Uphoff.

    Pallbearers will be Roelyn Cuningham, Jake Chalupsky, Zac Chalupsky, Dillon Chalupsky, Michael Dillow, David Wilcox, Jeremiah Richards, John Bauer and Gerald Chalupsky.

    Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22. A Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. and Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. All services will be at Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Edna with the Rev.Michael Petering officiating.

    In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Covenant House.
