Stanley Martin Spalek

 

     Stanley Martin Spalek, 88, of Ganado passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023. He was born on Tuesday, November 12, 1935 in Ganado to August and Mary Krc Spalek.

     Stanley very proudly enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17, being promoted to Staff Sargent by the age of 19. He served his country well and was honorably discharged on August 23, 1956.

     After his return to Ganado, he married the love of his life, Amy “Burene” Boepple, and they spent the next 64 years together, and raised their one and only daughter, Kellye.

     After 45 years with Rice Belt Warehouse, he finally retired in November of 2000.

     Stanley is survived by his much beloved family; wife Burene, daughter, Kellye Matcek and her husband Perry, grandchildren; Clint Matcek and his wife Karen, Laina Matcek Moomaw and her husband Nick, also his much beloved great- grandchildren; Michaella Matcek, Meghan Matcek, Emily Moomaw, Reese Moomaw and Addie Moomaw.

     He has been preceded in death by his parent, Mary and August Spalek, siblings; Robert Spalek, Frank Spalek and his wife

Lillian, August Spalek and his wife Roxie, Vlasta Keen and her husband Joe, and Bertha Rogers and her husband Earl.

     Pallbearers were; Clint Bacak, Bill Benavides, Henry Keen, Clint Matcek and Steven Spalek. Honorary Pallbearers were: Danny Keen, Robert Spalek, Bill Rogers, and Rice belt Warehouse employees.

     There was a visitation on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at  Assumption Catholic Church with Father Greg Korenek officiating.

     Services had been entrusted to the Todish Family of Ganado Funeral Home, 800 S. Third Street, Ganado, Texas 77962, 361- 771-2120
