PAUL JOHN SKORUPPA

 

     Paul John Skoruppa, 84 years old of Ganado, Texas passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023. Paul was born in DaCosta, Texas to the late John Pete Skoruppa and Edith Janie Vackar. Thereafter, he was a life long resident of Ganado, Texas.

     Paul served as a Sargent in the 552 nd Engineer Company of the US Army from 1961 through 1963. He was a decorated Marksman. Upon his return from Germany, Paul excelled in the Texas oilfield. He spent over 40 years working in that industry. Paul always enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting. Paul was a huge fan of old movies, especially those starring John Wayne. Paul’s favorite pass times were attending car races, especially watching his nephew Billy Pittaway race, and watching Nascar on television.

     Paul married Barbara Ann Vyvial on August 19, 1961. Paul is survived by his wife of 61 years, children; Roland (Rhonda) of Ganado, Mark (Sharon) of Lake Jackson, Texas, Chris (Pam) of Ganado, Bert (Dusty) of Ganado, and Paula Skoruppa of Port O’Connor, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Bartly, Kara, Delanie, Nick, Mackenzie, Josh, Brett, Brody, Owen, and Abby, and his only great- granddaughter, Louda Skoruppa. Paul is also survived by his siblings, Doris Raska, Janie Evans, and Agnes Salyer.

     Paul was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith Skoruppa, also his siblings, Pete Skoruppa, Johnny Skoruppa, Rosie Boone, Ann Pittaway, Jimmy Skoruppa, Joseph Skoruppa and Robert Skoruppa.

     Pallbearers are his grandsons; Bartly, Josh, Nick and Brett Skoruppa and his nephews; Billy Pittaway and Robbie Baker. Honorary pallbearer is Justin Cowan.

     There is a visitation on Monday, March 27 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 10:00 am at Assumption Catholic Cemetery with Deacon Kevin Petrash officiating.
