Evelyn Rose Schluter

    Evelyn Rose Schluter, 88, of Ganado passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, sept. 2, 2017. Evelyn was born on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 1928 in Moulton to Frank J. Mikes and Antonia Matula Mikes. She was on of 10 daughters.     On Dec. 9, 1947 she married Jerry Novosad and they were blessed with two children.     Evelyn lived a beautiful life and was loved by many. Her love for her grandchildren was one of a kind. Her giving heart allowed her to pursue her passion for quilting and baking the best kolaches in Jackson County. Her welcoming arms and spirit will now be awaiting us all in heaven.     Evelyn is survived by her daughter Drucilla “Dru” and husband Leroy; daughter-in-law Jeanette Novosad; sister Alice Maffei; grandchildren Heather (Bryan) Ganem, Todd (Tracy) Bures, Kendra L. Bures, Brandi (Paul) Orsak, and Stacy (Jeremy) Arnold; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.     She is preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Jerry Novosad, Frank Malik, and Charles Schluter; as well as her only son, Jerry Wayne “Butch” Novosad; and eight of her sisters.     Pallbearers are Todd Bures, TJ Bures, Paul Orsak, Joe Maffei, Tommy Maffei and Jeremy Arnold.     Visitation is Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ganado Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, Sept. 6 with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado with father Kirby Hlavaty officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Ganado.     Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Ganado Funeral Home, 361-771-2120.
