Emma Lucy Mareth Franz

Well, it took me 104 years, 11 months, and seven days, but I finally made my journey to Heaven. I haven’t let the grass grow under my feet since I arrived. I’ve been teaching the angels how to crack and peel pecans and to play dominoes, of course all with the Lord’s help.

I’ve been visiting with those gone before me, my parents, Caroline and William Mareth, my husband Floyd Franz, daughter, Sissie Charbula, sisters, Annie and Angie Harding, brother, Willie Mareth, and many beloved friends and relatives.

I’ve had a very blessed life. To carry on my legacy, I leave my son, Floyd “Buddy” and his wife Karen, daughters: Elizabeth Nell Charbula and Billie Franz Kucera. Also, my 10 grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren, and five Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Before my failing health, I was involved with The Woman’s Group at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Inez Community; Benefit Association, 15 years at Inez Elementary, 4-H Leadership, Victoria Home Demonstration, and wherever else I was needed and could help.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 Locust Avenue, Victoria, Texas 77901 or Emmanuel Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 309, Inez, Texas 77968.

My family has requested a private family service, so services were held on Wednesday, November 29, at 3 p.m. at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Green and Reverend Cindy Bailey officiating, followed with interment in Hirschhauser Cemetery in Inez.

Services had been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik Funeral Home, 209 N. Allen St., Edna, TX 77957, 361-782-2152.
