As a promise to his Mom and Dad, he obtained a bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences degree from Texas State University in 2012 at the age of 58.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Bar-B-Qing, horseshoes, casting pavers, raising chickens, manicuring the property for others to enjoy, and sitting in his rocking chairs at the barn by himself or with family and friends listening to the Astros or watching a western.

Charles is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Wells; sons, Clarke Wells and his wife, Kimberly and Jacob Wells and his wife, Justine; his grandchildren, Graham, Anna, Case, and Jessa; his brothers, John Wells, Lucky Wells (Tracy) and Robert Wells (Donna) as well as many brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces, and nephews.
