More details about two vehicle fatality

A two vehicle accident which occurred at Hwy 172 and CR 482. on Wednesday, December 21, resulted in two fatalities.

“A  2017 Nissan Altima, driven by Ler Kler Htoo, 19, of Houston, was headed north and crossed into the southbound lane where it struck a 2000 F150 driven by James Allan Mutchler, 67, of Point Comfort, head on,” DPS Spokesman Sgt, Ruben San Miguel said. “The truck caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames.”

Jackson County first responders arrived on scene to find two people deceased, one person trapped in a vehicle, and the other vehicle burning.

A front seat-passenger in the Nissan,  Nay Aye Htoo, 20, of Houston, was trapped in the vehicle.

Jackson CO ESD3 worked to free Htoo, who they noted was “alert and responding,” while PHI Life Flight was dispatched to the scene.

While the firemen put out the burning truck, EDS3 was able to extract the Htoo and he was transported to Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston.

“He is in stable but serious condition,” San Miguel added.

Hwy 172 and CR 482 remained closed until 7:18 p.m.
