City Wide Cleanup Seeking Volunteers

Edna is gearing up for its annual City Wide Cleanup event! The city is reaching out to those who possess pickup trucks and trailers, extending an invitation to participate and volunteer on Thursday, July 13th.

The high school athletes are set to take the streets on Thursday, with the girls in the morning and the boys in the afternoon. They will collect junk for those that can’t or won’t be available to unload. The volunteers who lend their trucks and trailers on this day will be rewarded with a well-deserved burger to savor as a token of appreciation.

Gary Broz with the City of Edna stated, “We also need everybody to participate if you have junk or trash. People can put it by the road.”

The city's appeal doesn't end with the call for volunteers. It is an urgent plea for all residents to participate, encouraging everyone to clean up their junk and trash. The time has come to collectively beautify the city.

Place any unwanted items by the roadside, and the dedicated cleanup crew will swiftly collect them. For those unable to do so, a simple phone call will summon the team to “do the appropriate things to go into your yard and get it,” said Broz.

The best part about participating in Edna's City Wide Cleanup is that it comes at no cost to anyone. This endeavor is the city's commitment to its residents, with funding provided by the local government.

Broz stressed, “We have enough physical help but not enough vehicles and trailers to cover the whole city.”

For those eager to contribute, please note that on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, residents can bring their junk and discarded items to the designated drop-off location at 404 N. Kleas Street. The dedicated team will be there to receive everyone's contributions and ensure their proper disposal.

To facilitate a seamless pickup process, kindly refrain from including certain items. Tractor tires, televisions, smoke alarms, concrete, dirt, and chemicals cannot be accepted.

Instead, the focus will be on brush, stumps, and various household items, car tires (without rims), furniture, mattresses, bags of leaves, carpet, appliances, outdoor toys, car batteries, plumbing fixtures, metal, wood, and fiberglass insulation are all welcome contributions.

It's important to note that this City Wide Cleanup is exclusively for the residents of Edna. So, please bring an ID as proof of residency.
