Thunder cursed again

“Every time we get to the championship game, it’s like we are cursed.”

Jackson County Thunder player Brian Peters expressed his frustration going in to Sun- day’s championship game.

The Jackson County Thun- der hosted Weimar in the championship game on Sunday afternoon. The Thunder has made an appearance in the championship game a few times in the past but have never won it and every time they lost, it was because of something odd.

“One year when we went, we lost on a bases loaded walk,” Thunder coach Will Sorensen said. “Another year we lost when the pitcher balked in the winning run.”

This time the “curse” showed up again as the Thunder entered the ninth inning with a lead but committed three errors on back-to-back plays and Weimar walked away with a 6-4 victory.

Weimar took advantage of two Thunder errors in the top of the first and jumped out to a 1-0 lead but the Thunder answered right back. Kade Kucera lead off the bottom of the first with a walk and then stole second. Kucera then moved to third on a ground out and came around to score on another ground out.
