Volleyball and football playoff info

The Industrial Cobras Volleyball team faced a good Marion Team on Monday night, in the Bi-District playoff game, and took care of business in four sets, 25-14, 23-25, 25-21, and 25-17. The Cobras will face the winner of Poth and Cotulla in the Area playoff game. Poth is ranked 60 and Cotulla 151. Industrial is ranked at 70.

The Cowgirls will face a tough opponent tonight, in Randolph (24-8, 12-0). The game will be played in Cuero, at 6:30.

The football playoffs are still up in the air. All three Jackson County teams have their playoff seeding, but not their opponents.

The Industrial Cobras have a bye week this week, and the Edna Cowboys will wrap up their regular season on Friday. The Cowboys will enter the playoffs as the district champs and the Cobras as the runners-up.

The district champs always start the playoffs facing the fourth place finishers of another district in the Bi-District round and the second place team faces the third place team.

Edna and Industrial will be facing teams from district 16, but their opponent won’t be know until district 16 completes their games on Friday.

District 16 is a jumbled mess, and it is difficult to even guess at who will win the district title.

Lyford (7-2, 3-1), San Diego (7-2, 3-1), Falfurrias (7-2, 3-1), Rio Hondo (4-5, 3-1) all have the same district record. Each of them lost one game to one of the other teams in contention.

When Friday’s games conclude, two teams will be 4-1 and two will be 3-2. This means Edna and Industrial will face the two teams who finish at 3-2, With Edna taking on the team that lost the head-to-head game with the team that will play Industrial.

Lyford is ranked 64, San Diego is ranked 75, Falfurrias is at 82, and Rio Hondo is 87.  Maxpreps has Edna at 8 and Industrial at 28.

No matter who the opponent is, Edna and Industrial should have an easy task in the first round.

Ganado will also have to wait until the games end on Friday to know who their opponent will be. However, it will be between two teams, not four.

LaVilla (7-2, 4-0) and Freer (6-3, 4-0) will play each other on Friday. Ganado will face the winner of that game. La Villa is ranked 81 and Freer 73. Ganado sits at 22. The Indians record is 7-2, 3-2 and they play in a much tougher district than eith of their potential opponents.
