Jackson County softball and baseball playoff information

   The high school softball playoffs begin today and both Ganado and Industrial play at 6 p.m.

    The Maidens (22-4, State Ranked #4) will host Kenedy (7-18, Unranked) tonight in Ganado in the Bi-District round. This is a single game round.

    3A

    The Cobra girls (17-14) will play Jourdanton (25-7, State Rank #24) at Jourdanton, tonight in the Bi-District round. This is a single game round.

   The Cobra and Indians baseball teams both still can make the playoffs, as they finished the district schedule in ties.

    For Ganado to get in the playoffs, it's simple: Win and they are in.  The Indians will play Schulenburg at the Shiner Starplex on Friday at 6 p.m. to decide the fourth seed in the district. The winner will play Thorndale in the Bi-District round.

    Industrial will have to play in a four team tournament that will decide which three teams make the playoffs. Yoakum won the district title but Industrial, Hallettsville, Tidehaven, and  Columbus all tied for second.

    Industrial Athletic Director Craig Nairn provided the following information about the tournament-

     Baseball Play-In Tournament Information: First Round Friday April 29th at Weimar's Veteran's Park. Industrial will play Tidehaven at 5 p.m. The other Friday game will be 7:30 p.m. or later. Games will be played until completed, NO time limit. $5 per person to get in the gate.  Tickets sold at the gate. Second Round is Saturday April 30th at Victoria's Riverside Stadium. Game times are TBD (trying to work around Regional Track). Games will be played until completed, NO time limit. $5 per person to get in the gate.  Tickets sold at the gate. The coaches have a meeting this morning to determine seeding and game times.

    The team that finishes last in the four team tournament will miss the playoffs.
