Highest Scoring Game in Texas High School History

On Monday, March 12, the Ganado Maidens defeated the Moulton Bobkatz 44-34. Yes, let that sink in. The Maidens softball team won 44-34. The previous week, they defeated Flatonia 27-26, yet here was an even wilder game.

According to the National Federation of State High School Associations record books, this game was the highest scoring softball game in Texas high school history. In fact, it tied the fourth highest scoring game in U.S. history (NFHS records go back to 1920). No other Texas school landed in the top ten. In case you were curious, the highest scoring game listed by the NFHS record books was a 2011 game won by New Cuyama Cuyama Valley, CA., over  Cambria Coast Valley, CA., 48-47.

Now, here’s a little more comparison.

*Of the 29 football games played by Jackson County schools last season, in only six games did a JC school score at least 44 points.
