Area round: check

For the first time since 2014, the Industrial Cobras softball team advanced past the Area playoff round with a two games to none series sweep of Karnes City.

The Cobras won game one, 5-0. Lexey Mikulec did the work on the mound, allowing only one hit. At the plate, Tia Hart drove in three runs on two hits, Jillian Jones added three hits and an RBI, and Reagan Doyle pitched in two hits. The Cobras racked up ten hits.

All aspects were working for the Cobras in game one. “We played the best defense we’ve played all season,” Industrial head coach Ted Malek said. “Reagan led off the game with a hit and scored the first run of the game. She had a couple of hits and scored a couple of runs for us. With that first inning run, we controlled the game throughout.”

After playing great defense in game one, the defense fell apart for the Cobras in game two, but they still managed to pull off a 4-3 victory for the series sweep.

The Cobras never trailed in the game, but after getting one hit in game one, the Lady Badgers came out swinging, and the defensive errors kept the game tight.
