Weldon Branch Bonnot

     Weldon Branch Bonnot, 90, passed away Thursday March 21, 2024.  Weldon was born July 12, 1933, the youngest of four sons born to Carlos and Eva Jane Sewell Bonnot, a lovely pioneer Jackson County family.

     Weldon attended LaWard Elementary School and then transferred to Edna High School where he was active in football, basketball, baseball and track.

     After graduation he attended Texas A&I in Kingsville but came back to Edna to work.

     He was a stockholder and a very familiar face at Westhoff Mercantile for many years.  Until his health prevented, he was an avid golfer, hunter, and active member of the First Baptist Church of Edna.  He loved singing in the choir.

     In 1954 he married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Wooten Bonnot.

     They were blessed with two precious children, Michael Wooten Bonnot of Victoria and Michelle Bonnot McNeill and her husband Mark of Victoria.

     Mr. Bonnot is also survived by his grandchildren Megan Bonnot Kiella and her husband Scott of Belton and their children Kate & Jack; Ryan Kelsey Bonnot and his wife Megan of Houston; and Clayton Weldon McNeill and his wife Veronica of Victoria and their baby girl Falynn.

     Weldon was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Carlos Bonnot, Harold Bonnot and Joe Bonnot as well as many special nieces and nephews.

     Pallbearers will be Clayton McNeill, Ryan Bonnot, Scott Kiella, Dr. Carlos Bonnot, Dr. Joe Lynn Bonnot and John Bickings.

      The funeral service will be held Tuesday March 26, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Edna with Bro. Robert Krause officiating.
