Vera Sayles Joshua

     Mrs. Vera Joshua, 87, formerly of Edna, presently of New Braunfels, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. Vera was born on Tuesday, March 28, 1933 in Edna to Laylen Robinson Sayles and Rayfel Sayles, Sr.

      Vera married the love of her life in 1953, Freddie Joshua, and in 2014 God called him home.

    Vera completed Adell Beauty College in 1962 and opened her own shop. She was the owner/operator of Joshua’s Beauty Rambler for many years.  She was very well known and loved in her community. She loved gardening, cooking and watching TV.

    Vera is survived by her sister Margie Callis of Houston, daughters; LaVinua (Travis) Washington of DeSoto, Texas, and Janny Joshua; sons, Danny Joshua and Kevin Joshua; her three grandchildren, Emily Aguilar (Brian), Kaytlyn Joshua and Landen Joshua, as well as two great-grandsons, all of New Braunfels;  nieces Wanda Ballard and Chariesse Turner of Houston, and a host of family and friends who will deeply miss her laughter, smile and her loving touch.

    She has been preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers, Jesse Ray Sayles and Rayfel Sayles, Jr.

    There will be a Memorial service with Brother Evans of Houston officiating on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel.

    Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik Funeral Home, Edna, 361-7825-2152.
