Velma Stone, 95, of Edna passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017. She was born on Nov. 25, 1921 in Victoria, Texas to Lewis Hall and Florence Odell Belcher Hall. She attended school in Edna and Victoria and after graduating high school from Yoakum, she went to work for Foster Field and later was married to Lester Stone. They set up the Stonebor Company where they manufactured special drilling instruments After her retirement she remained in San Antonio until September, 2014 when she came back to Edna. Velma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her two brothers; Louis and Marvin Hall. She is survived by her cousins Betty Volkmer and Robert and Rose Volkmer of Edna. There was a graveside service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Victoria with Rev. Adam Knapp officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church of Edna. Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik Funeral Home, 361-782-2152.
