Sigmund James Keesecker

Born 11 weeks premature, Sigmund James Keesecker came into this world a fighter on February 24, 2021.

On April 28, 2021 Sigmund James Keesecker passed away unexpectedly at Detar Women and Children's Hospital.

In two short months Sigmund left many footprints on so many peoples hearts. Sigmund leaves behind his loving parents Cody Keesecker and Carissa Shworles of Edna. His grandparents Maxine Keesesecker fiance Ray Patlaba; Gregory and Tracy Shworles. Aunt Courtney Keesecker, her son Liam Marquez. Uncles Jacob Shworles, Zachery Shworles wife Ashley. Great grandparents Cheyenne and Barbara Short. Peter and Kathi Shworles. Great great grandmothers Betty Keesecker and Dot Short. Special family/friends Bill, Vicki Moore; John, Pam and JW Edward's. And a host of many more family and friends.

I wanted to thank my parents, all the doctor's, and EMS for saving my baby's life as long as they could. At 1:59am this morning me and Cody faced a parents worst nightmare, we lost our sweet baby boy. Only 1 week and 2 days at home with him and we lost him.

He stopped breathing at home so my parents did CPR and brought him back while I called 911. When he got into the ambulance his body temp was 95.5, but they had him stable. Fast forward to the ER, his body temp was 98.8 when he arrived and alert not showing any signs so they assumed it was a small episode that happened and he was done, but then he had heart rate and oxygen drop while Cody was with him so they intubated him and he responded well with it, but by time we got to the back for his CT scan everything took a turn for the worst.. They tried reviving for an hour, but he was unresponsive the whole time.

I'll never understand why things like this happen and I'm so mad at the world, I feel empty, and having to leave our baby boy at the hospital and not bringing him home with us destroys me and having to make funeral arrangements is going to destroy me even more. Coming home will never be the same and I really don't know what to do from here, I just want our baby boy back, I wish this was all a dream, and I wish we could just rewind time.  We miss him so much already. It wasn't suppose to be like this. He was suppose to grow up and we were suppose to watch him grow and take care of him, he was suppose to grow up and build his own family, we were so ready to watch him get chunky because he was starting to pack on weight fairly quickly and now we don't have that anymore.. Now it's just pictures and memories.

From my husband and myself we would like to thank everyone also but want to thank Officers Cheyenne Beaver for being there for me to hand Sigmund off to her an her bringing him fully through. Officer Bridget Bustamante also for being there for Sigmund and our family. They were the first to arrive and the squad wasn't far behind. Thank you all for quick response.-Carissa Shworles
