Nancy Lee James

     Nancy Lee James, of La Salle, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at the age of 83. She was born in Jackson County, Texas on December 19, 1938, to the late William F. James and Lydia Matak James.

    Nancy attended Industrial schools from elementary to high school, graduating in 1957. She loved being on the Industrial Cobraette basketball team and loved the game her entire life. She followed the girls every season. Nancy attended Victoria College, San Antonio College, and the University of Texas. She then joined the WAFs (Womens AirForce) for four years.

    When her term was up she returned to La Salle and worked for Woods Grocery in Edna for a short while before running the Vanderbilt store. She bought the store from Mr. Woods and ran it for several years. Nancy was a loving sister and aunt who will be dearly missed.            Nancy leaves behind a brother, David A. James (Judy); human nephews, David Brian, Stephen Paul, Roger Elles, and Corbin Craft; and two miniature dachshund nieces, Mischa and Maddie.

    Nancy is preceded in death by her mother, Liddie James; her father, William F James; a brother, William B James (Joann); and a nephew, William B James Jr.

    Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1 p.m., also in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Nancy’s name to Baptist Temple Church of Victoria, 1804 N. Laurent, Victoria, Texas 77901.
