Mary Ann Clifton

Mary Ann Porche Clifton, 87, of Cuero, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. She was born February 8, 1931 in Edna, Texas, to the late William Edward Porche, Sr. and the late Velmer Putnam Porche. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and was a Pink Lady Volunteer for the Cuero Hospital. She was an active member of St. Michaels Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Altar Society. During her lifetime, Mary enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and being surrounded by friends and family.     Mary is survived by her son Kelley David Kahanek (Sarah Leigh) and her daughter Ann Renee Kahanek Melton (Rocky) of Edna,  her five grandchildren, Kelley David Kahanek, Jr. (Myranda) of Edna, William Ross Kahanek (Megan) of Victoria, James Morgan Kahanek (Katie Jordan) of Edna, Ann Marie Melton Hall (Nick) of Houston, Julie Ann Melton Smith (Robert) of Austin and her eight great-grandchildren, Braden Kade Kahanek, Jackson Hunter Kahanek, Taylor Kelley Kahanek, Lillian Grace Kahanek, Callaway Conwell Smith, Beau Melton Smith, Campbell Jennings Smith and Nicholas Andrew Hall, Jr..  She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Wanda Porche, her two nieces Peble Porche Sorenson and Paula Porche, her great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and many friends.     She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles “Chuck” Ralph Clifton and her brother William “Billy” E. Porche, Jr.     A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 30 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Cuero with the Rev. Jasper Liggio officiating. A private burial will follow at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna.      Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.     Mary’s family would like to extend a sincere “thank you” to her caregivers, Connie Trevino, Alice Trevino, Janie Barron, Ronnie Ware and Geena Kuester. The family would also like to extend a very special “thank you”  to the doctors and nursing staff of Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion for their excellent care and compassion.     The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Mary’s name to St. Michaels Catholic Church, 309 E.
