Joan Ramsey

    Joan H. Ramsey, 81, died on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020.  She was born May 28, 1939 in Alpine, Brewster County, Texas to the late Russell Phifer Cornelius and Thelma Viola Geaslin Cornelius.

    Joan spent most of her life in Edna as a homemaker and bookkeeper. She served as Coordinator for the Jackson County Senior Citizens Center at Shelby Park before leaving to join Texas Parks & Wildlife at Lake Texana where she retired in 2000.

    After retiring, she moved to San Antonio to be near her daughter.     Joan was a member of Daughters of The American Revolution, The Daughters of The Republic of Texas, and Texas First Families. She was a beloved mother, Christian, lover of all animals, an avid reader, and an exceptional gardener.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Louise C. Janica, and brother-in-law, Daniel Janica of Edna and Ganado, Texas. She is survived by her daughters, Richla Kay Ramsey (Sanjay Sidhu) of Redmond, Washington and Jolinda Lea Ramsey of San Antonio, Texas. Grandaughters Sonia Viola Kaur Sidhu and Maia Kaur Sidhu, nephews Kelly (Cindy) Janica and Travis (Lesa) Janica and great/great-great nieces and nephews.

    A private family memorial service will be held in Edna at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made as Tribute Gifts to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
