Joan Fay “Joanie” Walker

Joan Fay “Joanie” Walker, age 68, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021. Joan Fay and her brother, John Ray, the first twins born in the Ganado Hospital, made their debut on September 9, 1952 to John and Bernece Jetton Karl.

Joanie grew up on the Navidad River as part of a large family who lived partly off the land. They hunted in, and out, of season for survival more than sport. She was truly a country girl that liked her glamour too; and, she wore the glamour well.

She worked at Cornerstone Properties, U.S. Postal Service, McCoys and Bluebonnet Electric Coop in Bastrop. Joanie held a special place in her heart for her church--At The Cross Fellowship.

Two souls were joined in Heavenly bliss when God joined Joan and Richard "Bo" Walker together on August 11, 1990. The Walker’s home has always been a place of welcoming love and laughter. Joan loved her children, Shelly and Kelly. Her absolute pride and joy were her grandchildren. Some might say that they were spoiled by their ‘Gamma’ and ‘PaBo’ with love, trips across the United States and the many wonderful times spent together building family memories-more than enough for a lifetime.

Joanie is survived by her husband, Bo Walker; her children Shelly Lowery Brown (Alton) and Kelly Lowery (Kimberley); her brilliant and beautiful grandchildren who take after their grandmother, Jared Lowery, KarlyAnne Lowery, Kolten Lowery, Kyndal Lowery and Aidan Brown; sisters, Jean Shores (Dale) and Peggy Karl Davis; brother, Tony Karl (Debbie); mother-in-law, Patricia Walker; sisters-in-law, Linda Rozner Karl, Gloria Parrott, Amy Meyers and Kelley Tinsley (Bill) along with too many adored nieces, nephews and cousin to name.

Joanie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jerry Karl and John Karl.

Visitation was held on August 26 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home. Joanie always envisioned a huge story-telling celebration by loved ones from all over on her treasured family land. However, due to safety concerns of the pandemic, Joanie amended her wishes to a private graveside service at the Karl Family Cemetery in Hope.

Pallbearers were Jason Davis, Brandon Karl, Matthew Karl, Marcus Karl, Wesley Davis, Nathan Davis, Mason Karl and Jordan Griffith.

Memorial contributions may be given to At The Cross Fellowship, P.O. Box 628, Yoakum Texas, 77995.     On-line guest book may be signed at www.thielecooper.com
