Jean Anne Sorensen

     Jean Anne Sorensen, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born in Bay City, Texas on March 13, 1931, to the late James T. Pledger and Lillie Obelgoner Pledger.

     Jean Anne was a retired schoolteacher for Edna ISD. She also served on the City of Edna city council for numerous years. She was a board member of the Jackson County Teachers Federal Credit Union. She was also an avid bridge player, traveler, and Master Gardener. Jean Anne was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

     Jean Anne is survived by her sons James Michael Sorensen of Sheridan and Russell Craig Sorensen of Edna; her daughter Karen Lynne Hoskins (Brent) of Weimar; She is also survived by her grandchildren, Justin Sorensen (Amanda), Will Sorensen, Jake Sorensen (Michele), Wess Sorensen (Aimee), McKenna Jasek (Joshua), Cole Hoskins (Katelyn), and Devon Hoskins. Jean is also survived by numerous great- grandchildren.

     She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillie Pledger; her husband, James F. Sorensen; and granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Sorensen.

     Pallbearers will be Andy Brown, Cole Hoskins, Joshua Jasek, Jacob Rosalez, Justin Sorensen, Wess Sorensen, Will Sorensen. Honorary pallbearers are Josh Rosalez and Ashton Rosalez.

     Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 10 a.m., in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna. Pastor Jacob Hunter will be officiating.
