    Doris Mae Holcomb, long time Frisco resident, born September 27, 1922 to Carlie and Lula Bailey in Haskell, Texas, passed away at her residence on January 12, 2021 at 98 years of age.

    She was married to former Frisco High School Principal and Business Manager, Curtis Holcomb on January 14, 1945. They were married sixty-eight years and had one daughter, Marcia Cooper of Athens, Texas.

    Doris was skilled in oil painting, knitting, sewing, quilting and loved music. She made quilts for her daughter, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. An accomplished seamstress, she made most of her daughter’s school clothes and designed and made costumes for school plays that Marcia was in. In retirement she learned to play golf to spend more time with her husband; loved camping in their travel trailer, taking cruises, visiting interesting places and making new friends.

    Mrs. Holcomb was a member of the First Baptist Church Frisco, Texas. She sang in the church choir, was a member of WMU, taught Sunday School and worked in Vacation Bible School.

    Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Holcomb and her parents, C.D. and Lula Bailey.

    She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Cooper and her husband, Terry; her grandson, Toby Cooper and his wife, Christina; her granddaughter, Amy Chadbourne and her husband, David; her great grandchildren, Noah Cooper, Gabriela Cooper, and Aubrey Chadbourne; sisters, Lula Taylor, Frances Brogdon, Virginia Blackwell, Dorlyne Howard and several nieces and nephews.

    The family extends a thank you to Doris’ friends who visited, phoned, and sent cards during her residence at Bethesda Gardens Frisco. Your love and concern were a blessing and encouragement to her.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Missions Fund, Frisco, Texas or Texas Home Health Hospice, McKinney, Texas.

    A Graveside Service will be held at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas on Monday, January 25, 2021 beginning at 9:15 am. Family and friends are invited to a “come and go.”
