Daniel Benjamin Stary

    Daniel Benjamin Stary was born on July 10, 1942 in Shiner, Texas and was reared on the family farm in Pilot Grove. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School, Baldwin Business College and Victoria College and attended University Houston-Victoria.

    He served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Sergeant. His lifelong occupation was an accountant with Garland Sandhop, CPA, Efficiency Air and Heller and Heller, CPA. He was active in the community early on with the Jaycee's, and was on Championship softball teams. He also served on the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Board, Bluebonnet Youth Ranch Board, Friends of the NRA, and near and dear to his heart was being a founding member of the Mid-Coast Youth for Christ - Campus Life and member of the Lions Club. His Christian faith was central in his life, and he was active at the St. Agnes Catholic Church as a CCD teacher and later involved in the ACTS community. He was awarded the Archdiocese of San Antonio Archbishop Francis J. Furry medal and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus Third Degree.

    Dan really enjoyed working and found comfort in doing a day's work. He enjoyed the outdoors and being with his cows. He was a loving husband to his wife Becky for 59 years. He was a dedicated father to his son Chad, daughter Danielle and his grandchildren, Melyn and, Payton, and was always the provider and patient.  Beyond the  love of his family, he loved God.

    He is survived by his wife, Becky, son Chad Daniel Stary (Kim), daughter, Danielle Gabrysch (Glenn), grandchildren, Melyn Kate Yaklin (Jacob) and Payton Ross Gabrysch.  One brother, Harvey Joe Stary (Ellen), nieces, nephews and many Cousins.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe A. and Celilia Stary, brothers, Victor and Jimmy Stary. We are thankful for all the prayers, care and outreach from the many friends that supported Dan and the family.

    Pallbearers will be, Joe Manual Gonzales, James Machart, Casey Muegge, Manny Perez, Garland Ray Sandhop and Terry Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are; Jimmy Curlee, Wayne Gabrysch, Jim Foster, Richard Heller, Louis Kozelsky, Sidney Kubala, Gerald Kubecka, David Muegee and Garland Sandhop.

    Visitation will be Friday evening, September 23rd, 2022 from 5 pm to 7 pm at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 24th, 2022 at 1:30 pm at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Father Michael Petering officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
