Guadalupe Espinosa Castaneda “Walley”, 87, of Inez passed away on May 24, 2026 in Victoria.
She was born on September 11, 1938, to Julio Garza Espinosa III and Julia Pena Espinosa. She was married to the late Jesus “JC” Castaneda.
Walley was employed by GTE Telephone, Riverside, CA, and 19 years at Eagle Fire & Safety, Edna, TX. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Victoria and the Catholic Daughters of Inez at St. Joseph Church in Inez. Walley loved sewing, crafts, reading books, and most of all shopping. She also loved to play card games and bingo.
Surviving family members include her daughters, Cynthia Sanchez of Missouri City, Melissa Tamez of Victoria, and Jessica Castaneda of Victoria; sons, Mark Tamez (Denise) of Victoria and Steven Tamez of Leander; siblings, Ophelia “Sophie” Castilow (Jim Hollaway) of Edna, Dora Arambula (Raul) of Victoria, Lydia Espinosa Crafton (Ron) of New Market, Maryland, Roland Espinosa (Margaret “Margie”) of Edna, and Julio Espinosa IV (Rebecca “Becky”) of Edna; fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse; her parents; sister, Olaya P. Salas; daughter, Brenda Lynn Tamez; and grandson, Kyle Arron Tamez.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Jamian Espinosa and John Roland Espinosa, both of Edna; grandsons, Jalil “Carlos” Eddington of Austin, Raul Gracia “Rooster” and Adam Gracia, both of Victoria; and friend, Sergio Loya of College Station.
Family and friends gathered for visitation on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary prayed at 7:00 PM, at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy., Victoria, Texas. Funeral Mass was Friday, May 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory, with burial at Latin American Cemetery, in Edna, Texas.
