Mary Lee (Bollom) Kallus

January 25, 2026

Mary Lee (Bollom) Kallus, lovingly known as “Momo” to her grandchildren, passed away on January 25, 2026, at the age of 83. A lifelong resident of the El Campo and Edna communities, she leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family, faith, and the simple joys of country life.

Born to Albina Kainer Bollom and Adolph William Bollom of El Campo, Texas, Mary Lee grew up alongside her two sisters, Evelyn Chaka and Lillian Konarik. She attended St. Philip’s Private School and graduated from El Campo High School. In her younger years, she and her friends enjoyed gathering for evenings of polka dancing— where she would eventually meet the love of her life, Johnny Joseph Kallus of Edna. The two were married on September 28, 1963, in El Campo and made their home together in Edna.

Mary Lee worked at Piggly Wiggly and Perry’s, where she took great pride in keeping the greeting card displays perfectly arranged. At home, she was deeply involved in the family farm—raising chickens, picking pecans, working cattle, tending her garden, and sharing her talents for baking and canning with those she loved.

A woman of strong faith, Mary Lee was a devoted member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She and Johnny were also longterm members of a super club that met regularly for more than 50 years, forming cherished friendships that became like family.

Above all, Mary Lee was a loving and caring mother to her three children: David John Kallus, Patricia Ann Kallus, and Dennis Joseph Kallus. She is survived by her children— David (Lisa), Dennis (Leslie), and Patricia— as well as her five grandchildren: Kayla Teltschik (Wesley), David John Kallus II (Tristin), Dylan Kallus (Shelby), Dawson Kallus (fiancé Emma New), and Devin Kallus. She also leaves behind six great‑grandchildren: Wyatt, Kendall, and Karley Teltschik; Presley and Lainey Kallus; and Austin Kallus.

Serving as pallbearers are David John Kallus, II, Dylan Kallus, Devin Kallus, Dawson Kallus, Wesley Teltschik, and Russell Kallus. Members and staff of Growing in Grace will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation for Mary was held at Oaklawn Funeral Home on Friday, January 30, at 5 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. The funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Edna.

In lieu of flowers or plants, donations may be made to Crown Hospice, 1406 E. Red River, Victoria, Texas 77901 or the Catholic Daughters of Edna, 506 N. Allen St., Edna, Texas 77957.

Mary Lee will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her steadfast love for her family, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
