Nina Mavrinac, 89, of Converse, Texas, passed away on October 10, 2025 in San Antonio.
Nina was born in Roswell, NM to Leonard and Ella Mae Plummer on April 28, 1936.
She graduated from Austin High School in 1954, and years later after raising her family, she graduated from UTSA with a degree in Music Education.
On April 17, 1982, Nina married Ronald Mavrinac at the RAFB chapel. They lived in Converse and had a music studio in their home where Nina taught Suzuki Violin lessons to students of all ages for over 40 years.
Nina learned to play violin when she was four years old, and was a lifelong concert violinist. She was one of the charter members of the Victoria Symphony in 1974, and continued playing with them until her last concert on September 13, 2025.
In addition to the Victoria Symphony, Nina also played in the Corpus Christi Symphony, the Laredo Symphony, the Kingsville Symphony, and the Mid Texas Symphony.
Nina was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Ella Mae Plummer, her brother Leonard Plummer and her brother-in-law Ward Blacklock.
Nina is survived by her husband, Ronald Mavrinac, her daughter Beth Beathard and husband Gary, son Robert Holloway, daughter Anna Damborsky and husband Michael, son Joe Sam Holloway, stepson Joseph Mavrinac and wife Barbara, stepdaughter Sandy Bailey and husband Brad, stepson Chuck Mavrinac and wife Jeanette and stepson Rich Goetz and wife Vivian.
She is also survived by her sister, Dottie Blacklock, daughterin- law Viviana Holloway, 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday October 27, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services followed at 12:30.
Memorials may be given to The Victoria Symphony.
