Melba Lucille Lindberg

Melba Lucille Lindberg, formerly of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025. at MD Anderson Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones. She was born on July 7, 1940, in Edna, Texas to Bill and Imogene (Rexroad) Lindberg. She was preceded in death by her brothers James Arthur, Myrvle Lon, sisters Billie Gene Webernick and Katherine “Kay” Tucker.
Melba is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and long-time companion Leona Laughman.
Melba graduated from Edna High School and then attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas, where she graduated in 1962 with a degree in health, physical education & recreation. Melba had a long and interesting career working at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health that spanned 40 years where she served as counselor, unit supervisor, regional staff trainer and consultant.
Melba had a big heart and was a fun-loving person. When family and friends were asked to describe
Melba, they unanimously agreed she was loyal, compassionate, supportive, driven, loving, and happy. She loved outdoor sports and was always good for a little competition.
She was brave and courageous throughout her battle with cancer. Always positive, she fought the fight to maintain her strength as long as possible. She was a Presbyterian by faith.
A graveside service to honor Melba will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna, Texas. In memory of Melba, the family requests contributions be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486 or MDAnderson. org/Gifts.
