Jessie was a proud and dedicated truck driver who spent more than 20 years on the road. He took great pride in his work, traveling countless miles and forming lasting friendships along the way. After a long and fulfilling career, Jessie retired from trucking, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, reliability, and an unshakable love for the open road.
Jessie was a devoted Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, and friend. He will be December 7, 1948 - October 26, 2025
deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jessie is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Esther Pena Smithwick; beloved daughter, Patricia Smithwick (LeRoy Zarate); sons, Jessie Smithwick, Jr., Jacob Smithwick (Rebecca), Stephen Smithwick (Esperanza), and Jason Smithwick (Mariel); 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Smikthwick (Mary); sister, Frances Smithwick; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Emilio Smithwick, Pete Smithwick, John Smithwick, and Frank Smithwick.
Pallbearers are Jessie Smithwick, Jr., Jacob Smithwick, Stephen Smithwick, Jason Smithwick, Joe Munoz, and LeRoy Zarate.
Services were held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel, with the visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the Funeral Service beginning at 12 p.m., followed by the Burial in the Latin American Cemetery in Edna, Texas.
