Joseph, an immigrant from Poland after World War II, then liberated and became a proud citizen of the United States of America. He grew up in Long Island, NY, before joining the United States Air Force and subsequently met Kathryn while stationed in Waco, Texas. Once Joseph and Kathryn were married, he spent 40 years in Vanderbilt, Texas as a cotton farmer, and as an involved member of the community, including being a school board member, the Chief of the volunteer fire department and an EMT. Since 2004 he has been a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana.
A graduate of Bellport High School, Joseph joined the United States Air Force, where he became a Navigator and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant.
Whenever he was asked about his favorite memories, his answer was “ did you know I wrote a book…would you like a copy”. Late in life Joseph’s story from Poland to the US and all of his achievements were chronicled in The Memoir of Joseph F.
Dubicki, published by Raconteur Life Story Writing.
He was a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Joseph’s caregivers with a special thanks to Laquenta Yokum and Ladaysha Yokum, who provided compassionate care and unwavering support over the past few years.
