Aurora “Georgie” Garcia, 89, passed away peacefully in Victoria, TX, surrounded by her daughter Terri on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. She was born January 7, 1936, in Ganado to the late Alberto Gabino Martinez and Florinda Reyes Martinez She met her husband of 35 years, Benito Garcia and married in 1970 and settled in Louise, later retiring to Ukiah, CA. Together they raised eight children. Her passion was dancing, cooking and babysitting. She had a third-grade education; however, that did not stop her from learning, she excelled in math and in reading. She would start her day reading her Bible, the Victoria Advocate, El Campo Leader News and the Jackson County Herald Tribune, she would repeat everything in those newspapers. She loved watching Perry Mason and Murder She Wrote.

Her favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys; however, with five boys she knew every quarterback and the plays. She watched

every Superbowl while enjoying a cold Bud Light.

She had strong family values and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. She was a member of the St.

Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, the Guadalupanas and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #2275. She is survived by her children, Theresa “Terri” Beltran and husband Augustine, (Hillje), Paul Martinez, Sr. and wife Debra, (New Braunfels) Joe Martinez, (Austin), Jimmy Martinez, (Fort Bragg, CA), Manuel Garcia,(Houston), Renee Garcia and wife Hilda, (Beeville), Patricia Flores and husband Braulio (Victoria) and Melissa Escamilla and husband Roel, (Victoria), 45 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren; her sisters Mary Vasquez (Ganado) and Isabel Escamilla, (Ukiah, CA) and beloved niece Gloria Garcia, raised as a sister (Ukiah, CA). She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Benito Garcia, parents, Albert Gabino Martinez and Florinda Reyes Martinez, brother John Martinez, Sr, (Josephine), sisters Guadalupe Rosalez (Reyes), Consuelo Rosalez (Reyes), Antonia Martin (Frank), Delores De Los Santos (Bernado), brother-inlaw Vicente Vasquez and great grandson Ruben F.

Visitation began at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 2 at Triska Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. The funeral Mass began at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 3 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in El Campo. Burial followed at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Ganado.
