He was born in Victoria, Texas, to Francis and Jewel Williams Koop on February 1, 1943. He was a man that enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved his horses, cows, farming, and his church, Redeemer Lutheran. He was a proud Army Veteran having been stationed in Fort Hood and Vogelwehe, Germany.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Koop, sons, Chad Koop (Kristi), Casey Koop (Diane), Cody Koop (Sara), and Tyler Koop all of Edna, sister, Patricia McFeron of Edna, brothers, Frances Koop Jr. (Linda) of Houston and Lesley Koop of Edna,

grandchildren, Mara Calhoun (Jordan) of New Braunfels, Nicole Horelka (Logan) of Edna, Ashley Rachunek (Branden) of Edna, Kayla Prihoda (Brett) of El Campo, Justin Koop of Edna, Weston Koop of Edna, Grant Koop of Edna, Wyatt Koop of Edna, and Brady Koop of Edna, and seven great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Tobey Koop.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Edna, Texas. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Pallbearers are Justin Koop, Weston Koop, Grant Koop, Wyatt Koop, Brady Koop, Logan Horelka, Branden Rachunek, Brett Prihoda and Jordan Calhoun. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Moody Coffee Bunch, Buck Chandler, Kenny Goodman, Albert Lopez, Ike Peterson, Wade Billings, Lonny Rab, and his beloved friends and family. Services are entrusted to the Todish family of Slavik & Ganado Funeral Homes.
