Senator to Speak to Local Group
Jackson County Retired School Personnel, a unit of TRTA, will hold its October 16, 2017 meeting in the Chamber meeting room beginning at 11:45 a.m. A catered lunch will precede the event’s program and requires an RSVP to 782-3148. All those previously employed by school districts in any role are most welcome to join the group on 10-16.
The speaker’s podium will be manned by Senator Kolkhurst, District 18 State Senator. Senator Kolkhurst should be presenting Jackson County Retired School Personnel with the most current and appropriate information concerning legislation affecting retirees as well as those still in the business of educating our youth.
The state of Texas’ interest in retirees’ health care, pension stagnation and plan preservation are topics of interest that may possibly provoke questions at this meeting. Attend to become informed; future livelihood is everyone’s concern.
Upcoming events for JCRSP include the District III Fall Conference on October 18th to be held in Refugio’s Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church. President Carrie Baker would like to have a full Jackson County contingency attending this meeting. Additionally, a road trip has been planned so as to enjoy the various painted churches around the Schulenburg area. Contact Theresa Martin (782-1311) to register to see these Texas treasures.
Just as there is no substitute for a good teacher, school nurse, maintenance folk, administrator, lunchroom lady or aide, still all must strive to “learn more to do more”. Keep active and enlightened through membership and attendance at JCRSP meetings.
