Brittany Bailey wanted to make a positive change in her life, and the lives of others, after years of working in retail. She also wanted to have a positive impact in her hometown. In January, she got to start a new career in which she feels she gets to do both.

Bailey is the newest officer at the Edna Police Department, something she says she loves doing because she gets to contribute to her community.

“I wanted a life change. I wanted a career change. I wanted to be able to help people,” she said.

Bailey is a 2010 Edna High School Graduate who has spent her life in Jackson County.

“I’m from Edna, Texas,” she said. “I was born and raised here. I’ve lived here all my life. I haven’t been anywhere else.”

She’s enjoying the new position more and more as she gets more used to the job. Her coworkers are good to her, and she’s enjoying a job that is both fulfilling and unpredictable.

“It’s never the same thing every day,” she said.

Bailey lives in Edna with her family and looks forward to seeing the people she’s grown up around out in the community she now happily serves.
