Starting off district play against Yoakum and Goliad would be a tough task for any team, but it is something the Industrial Cobras had to face. They held their own against the two state ranked teams but ultimately lost the games.   Headed into the third district game, against Luling, Cobra head coach Jamie Dixon made it clear that the Cobras were focusing on defeating Luling and Hallettsville to lock up a playoff position before finishing out the season in their rivalry game against another state ranked team, the Edna Cowboys.

After going into the locker room tied at 7, the Cobras took it to the Brahmas in the second half to win 29-13 and to secure a playoff position.

“I had spoken to the kids about locking up a playoff spot,” Dixon said. “But at halftime, I was more concerned with cleaning up all the penalties we had in the first half. In the second half, we cut down on the penalties and we capitalized.”
