The Flag City Opry on December 18 will be extra special. It will be their final show, with headliner The Flag City Opry Band. Joining the band for this special evening will be Rachel Boettcher from Rosenberg, and Jo Marie Prukop-Falcon from Bishop.

Those who love listening to classic country music, by local and upcoming artists, and enjoy eating good food have been coming to the Flag City Opry Show for over a decade.     Every third Tuesday of each month, at the Jackson County Services Building, is where Charlie Kroll would put on a good show.

February 21, 2006 is when Kroll and his late wife Dorothy took over management of the Opry, which was held in Inez at the time.

“We brought it to Edna, changed the name and  started rebuilding. I’d go out and look for performers. We’d try to keep the show at a high level with great entertainers. We wanted it to be family-oriented, clean, smoke-free – the whole nine yards,” said Kroll.
