Burn ban issued

  The Jackson County Commisisioners Court placed Jackson County under a burn ban at their meeting on Tuesday morning.

  As of Tuesday morning, Jackson County had an average of 570 on the KBDI Index scale with the wettest area in the county measuring 491 and the dryest measuring 650. The average was 3 points dryer than yesterday. The scale ranges from 0 to 800 with 0 being total water saturation and 800 representing total dry conditions.

  When the index reaches 550, the Commissioners will discuss a burn ban and 585 is the level most surrounding counties will issue a burn ban.

  Currently Victoria County and Lavaca County are also under a burn ban.
