Beto speaks to crowd

Beto O’Rourke, Democratic Congressman for the Texas Senate seat, visited Jackson County at the Chamber of Commerce Monday, Aug. 20, to a revved up crowd, some of who traveled past county lines to see the candidate and hear him speak.
Three generations of Victoria women sat in the front row waiting for O’Rourke to arrive. Sherryl Valdeiez brought her mother and daughter to Edna because she’d heard him speak in Victoria. “My mother, Sarah Spinks, didn’t get to go at that time and wanted to. My daughter, Ashley, came from San Antonio, too,” Sherryl said. “We find him to be a symbol of hope.”
