On May 7 the EBLC held the Scholarship Brunch and Meeting at the Edna Country Club. Decorating for the brunch the day before produced a spring-like atmosphere where gaily colored flowers adorned the food table, lavender colored tablecloths held “Today is Your Day” sentiments while 2025 balloon bouquets centered the massive greenery background where President Carolyn Strnadel would present 14 (one absent recipient) scholarship packages. As each girl’s name was called, she told the crowd of parents, counselors, friends and EBLC members what her college choice was and her hope for a life ambition. The financial gift was accompanied by the club’s traditional copy of Dr. Seuss’ Oh the Places You’ll Go, an ornament for remembrance of EBLC, plus a newly found fun gift of Dr. Seuss socks!
At 12:30 cleanup began so that a May club meeting could be held. President Carolyn Strnadel reported on the club awards received at the state convention held the previous weekend held in Corpus Christi. EBLC won othe a Gold Star and a First Place honor for the club’s yearbook plus ten other 1st. places in State certificates and five 2nd. place honors.
Other discussion items included Bingo which will be held on June 12 at the JC Service Building at 6pm.
Fiesta is the theme and dress. Tickets are $25.
