The Ganado Maidens entered the Regional Finals highly favored to win the series and they didn’t disappoint as they defeated Flatonia 10-0 and 5-1 to win Region 4 and advanced to the State Semi-Finals for the first time in school history.
Being district foes, these teams were familiar with the other team and aside from the final match-up, the Maidens won by 10-runrule the first three times.
During the Flatonia series, the Maidens picked up another school record when they won their 29th game of the season, setting a school record.
Now Ganado (30-5-1) enters uncharted territory. They will face Corrigan- Camden (25-6-10) in the fifth round. Game one will be played on Tuesday at 7 p.m at Navasota High School. Game two will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Waller High School and game three will be played, if necessary, on Saturday, May 24, at noon.
The winner will advance to the State Championship.
