With Armed forces day on Saturday, May 17, Memorial Day will be celebrated on Monday, May 26, and Veteran Services Officer Ron Langford wanted to share what is going on in Calhoun County and Jackson County.
On Monday, May 26, in the Texana Museum parking lot, the Patriot Warriors of Valor, in tandem with the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce will have a short ceremony and refreshments from 11 a.m. to noon.
From May 23 to 26, at the Port Lavaca/Matagorda Bay KOA is celebrating all weekend long. On Saturday, May 24, a campground potluck will be had with train rides for all, and live music, but book spots early, because they will run out.
Veteran Services Officer Ron Langford said there will be a formal flag retirement ceremony in Port Lavaca Monday, May 26, at 10 am, with hot dogs, drinks and chips served for lunch.
