Jackson County Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar Monica Foster was awarded the Distinguished Service Award during the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association Annual Conference held in Waco the week of June 8.
The award is presented annually to a county tax assessor-collector who has demonstrated exceptional service and long-standing dedication to the association. Nominees are selected by the TACA Board of Directors and committee leadership.
Foster said she was genuinely surprised to hear her name announced.
“I was shocked that it was me because I had nominated another tax assessor who I felt was more deserving,” she said. “Though shocked, I was honored and humbled to be nominated and presented this award by a dear friend, Dawn Vieth, Tax Assessor-Collector of Archer County.”
During the conference, Foster was also sworn in as president of the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association for the 2026–27 year. The ceremony was conducted by JJ Wells, attorney with Linebarger, Goggin, Blair & Sampson LLP.
Looking ahead, Foster noted that this will be a legislative year for the association.
“We have already begun interim hearings and meetings with our state senators and representatives,” she said.
“I am looking forward to working with all 254 counties as we move into the legislative session to represent our constituents to the best of our ability.”
