Walkers, joggers and runners who enjoy themselves at the Edna High School track will have to find somewhere else to walk for June and July: the track will be resurfaced by Hellas Construction for a cost of $368,027.
“You will need to find an alternate place to walk, but I am confident you will like the end product,” said Bill Boyd, interim superintendent.
The Edna ISD board of trustees welcomed their newly elected District 5 member, Fernando Rodriguez, while District 7 representative, Derrick Bermea, was also sworn in for another term.
During the last meeting, the board also restructured for the upcoming year. Brandon Peters, President, Brandon Curlee, Vice-President, Terry Miller, Secretary, and Kris Crenshaw, Assistant Secretary.
Dustin Kocian and Donnie Mac Long were honored during the last meeting for their service. Kocian has served for three years and Long for 15.
In other news, the State Champion Applied Ag Engineering team and their sponsor, Kurtis Koop, were honored during the meeting.
Lastly, EISD “remains on track with its budget. As of the end of April, tax collections reached 92% with 66.53% of the annual budget expended with four months remaining in the fiscal year.”
Mason Briscoe was sworn in as the new superintendent, while Dustin Nessel was voted in as the new junior high principal and Karley Schilling was voted in as the new junior high assistant principal.
