Twelve members of the Texana Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) met on May 11 at the Farquhar Building in Edna.

The focus of the last meeting of the fiscal year was to discuss Chapter goals and activities led by President Vanessa Harrah.

There was a spirited exchange about reviving and funding the Scholarship program benefitting high school seniors in Jackson County.

Members are excited to continue the long-standing Scholarship project, which has funded dozens of graduating students and was halted temporarily during Chapter re-organization.

The Texana Chapter is continuing plans for co-hosting this year’s District meeting in September with the Fannin Chapter in Victoria.

Shanna Norris, Chaplain, led a memorial service for deceased member Sue Milby Quinn, who has been a Texana DRT member for 27 years.

The Texana Chapter of DRT meets in Edna monthly, September through May, and invites women who are interested in exploring and preserving Texas history to join. For more information about DRT, text 512-750-8903.
