Behind a shutout victory over Rice, the Industrial Cobras softball team won the district crown for the first time since 2018. With a defending State Champ down the road getting most of the attention, the Cobras have put together a season just as good as the Maidens.
Industrial moved into the top 25 earlier in the year and now sit at #3 in 3A. Industrial will finish the district schedule by Hoisting Hallettsville on Tuesday. Industrial’s lone loss on the season was to 6A Clear Falls in an early season tournament.
Maiden Kylan Benavides had a record-breaking four home run game against Weimar as Ganado remains in front in the district. The Maidens will play Shiner on Tuesday and then finish the season against Flatonia. If Ganado defeats Shiner, they will win the district crown.
Edna (5-8) is still hanging on but will have to win their last game against Yoakum (4-9) and get some help from Rice (0-13) to force a tie for the final playoff spot. Rice will have to defeat Palacios (6-7) to force the tie.
