This Thursday, March 26, the Texana Arts Council will host the third annual county- wide high school art exhibition from 5:30 to 7:30. p.m. at Treasure Gardens in Edna.
Something new is happening this year: the 45 students there will be divided into three groups to work together to create a collaborative art project, which will also be on display this Thursday.
The 45, 15 students from each high school in the county, will ex- hibit 53 artworks. Each piece was judged “exemplary” at the Regional Visual Art Scholastic Event held on March 7, also known as VASE.
Eight of the 53 works have advanced to the State VASE competition, which will be held in April.
A guest artist, Dr. Mary Lasater, will be in attendance making an art project of her own and answering questions from the 45 students while creating. She will also be a guest speaker during the exhibition.
Don’t miss the exhibit on Thursday evening, because it will be taken down on Friday.
