Ganado ace hits the jackpot with Sul Ross State

Ganado ace hits the jackpot with Sul Ross State
Ayden Tudyk signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Sul Ross University.

When Ayden Tudyk takes the mound for the last time as a Ganado Indian, it won’t be the last time he steps on the diamond.

Tudyk signed to attend and play baseball for Sul Ross State University in Alpine.

“For the fall of 2026, I will be attending Sul Ross State University to work towards getting a bachelor’s degree in business management.”

Business Management played a part in deciding where Tudyk decided to go but ultimately, being able to continue playing baseball, sealed the decision.

“As far as choosing the right college for me, this one hit the jackpot,” Tudyk explained. “Baseball has always been the key player in deciding which college I want to attend, and Sul Ross helped me decide real quick.”

The coaching staff at Sul Ross impressed Tudyk.

“When I went on a visit, I got to meet a lot of people from around the area and meet people who attend the college themselves,” he continued. “I heard and saw nothing but amazing things.

“The coaches want the best for me and the college is great, as it is located in a beautiful place. What really made choosing this college the easiest was the fact that other colleges and coaches were inconsistent and just didn’t show the same love as Sul Ross State University. I believe being with the right people that like you and want to push you are the best in consideration to the idea of positive growth and development.”

Last season, Tudyk helped lead the Indians to the third round of the playoffs from the mound and he will do the same in college.

“I plan to be a PO (pitcher only),” he said. “I expect a ton of competition at an NCAA school, and I am very excited to play high-level talent, as I will compete against other opponents that have something special like me. I will not have any friends attending college with me at Sul Ross, but I can firmly say that I will not be homesick. I have always dreamed of the time to come where I get to be on my own and experience life in the next chapter of life.”

One of the best draws to Sul Ross was the possibility of playing time as a freshman.

“I firmly expect playing time in the first year in college,” he explained. “Adding on to the list of reasons why I want to go to Sul Ross; my valued performance on the field will be at the top of the echelon and as of now, the coaches are content with the idea of me playing the first year. During the summer, I am going to work extremely hard to gain the most development as possible. This will only heighten my chances of starting on the team.”

The campus itself also excited Tudyk.

“I was highly impressed with the location and inclusion of the people. On the visit, the views were absolutely beautiful. The school is set up to where every resource is right in front of you.”

The Sul Ross Lobos are currently 1-17 on the season.
